Kivuli Children's Homes

Approximately 600 people die every day due to HIV/AIDS-related illnesses in Kenya. According to the current report from the Ministry of Health, it is estimated that if the present infection rate of 300,000 (15%) people per year continues, 2.6 million people will be HIV positive in Kenya. One of the worst consequences of HIV/AIDS in Kenya is that more than 1 million children under the age of fifteen have been orphaned.

At Lavenda Springs, we have built 5 children's houses in a village called Kivuli.  Kivuli is a Kiswahili word meaning “shade”, shadow or “shelter” as in Psalms 91:1 "...being found under the shadow and shelter of God".  The homes can house 6 – 8 children with one 'house mum' to look after them.  All of the children have lost both parents, so desperately need a good home environment for them to grow up in.  We are currently building 3 more of these homes as the need is so great.
